Frequently Asked Questions
Who can benefit from couples or family counseling?
Couples and families of all types can benefit from counseling. It can be beneficial to both the adults and children in the family. Learning how to listen and effectively be heard, how to resolve conflict, what it means to compromise, why compromise is beneficial, strengthening the quality of relationships, or any other mechanism within the family system could be addressed in counseling.
Who can benefit from marital or pre-marital counseling?
Pre-marital counseling is an option for couples considering marriage. It is usually a six-week commitment, and we are able to complete a form for you to file with your application for a marriage certificate so that you receive a discount on your marriage certificate. In pre-marital and marital counseling we cover a variety of concepts such as conflict resolution, parenting, personality, communication skills, and more depending on the goals established. At Crossway Center, we celebrate and value marriage, and adhere to a Biblical definition of marriage being between one man and one woman.
What is the benefit of family counseling?
Family counseling can produce more effective communication, closeness, and resolution of issues. Oftentimes, seeing some individual, or a pairing of family members in sessions, is helpful in meeting our goals as well. We often discuss personality differences, compromise, conflict resolution, how to enjoy time together, and a variety of other concepts depending on the need.
Is couples and family counseling confidential?
Yes, confidentiality still applies. If individual meetings occur as a part of your couples or family counseling, you and your counselor will discuss what you do and do not want discussed with the other party.
Is counseling faith-based?
Our counselors respect each client’s values and beliefs. Faith or spirituality is not required or expected. Our counselors will meet you where you are. The counseling process belongs to you.
